St. Regis Catholic School, Bloomfield Hills

Mrs. Giehtbrock has a gift we still talk about. Our preschooler is full of personality — let’s call it sass — and she welcomed every bit of him into her classroom. On the rough mornings when we’d drop him off after a hard start at home, she had this way of shaking the cranky right out of him and getting him to a happy place by the end of the day. That’s not something you can teach. That’s just who she is.

St. Regis prides itself on a strong sense of community. We felt welcomed from the start and see genuine relationships between the staff and students. The school feels like an extension of home—not just a place my kids go during the day.

Our son has grown so much academically over the past 2 years, and he has made so many wonderful friendships along the way. We love seeing him learn more about the Catholic faith and incorporating those values in his daily life.

St. Regis combines rigorous academics with a deep commitment to faith, where passionate teachers nurture independence, strong values and lasting friendships.

All 3 of our kids have grown so much in all 3 aspects. You expect academic and social growth- the spiritual growth has been the most unexpected. They’ve all taken to religion being a core class and  will all say or do things throughout the day/week that will surprise us, in a good way, about things they’ve picked up either in religion class or at mass. It’s been sweet to see.

What stands out to me is how happy my children are to go to school. That says everything. They feel comfortable, supported, and excited to be there, which as a parent is incredibly important.

The sense of belonging really stands out. Programs like the school’s house system help students connect across grade levels and create a family-like environment rooted in shared values and service.
